The windows are a popular tourist attraction and everyday tourists as well as visiting Christians are taken up with the world's largest themed stained glass windows. There are 24 windows (12 along each side ) depicting the story of creation taken from the Book of Genesis. These are aptly named the Creation Windows.

From the beginning till now the entire creation, as we know it, has been groaning in one great act of giving birth; and not only creation, but all of us who possess the first fruits of the Spirit, we too groan inwardly as we wait for our bodies to be set free.... (Romans 8/22-24)

The interior of St. Monica's Cathedral is finely proportioned. It has a quiet dignity made imposing by the strong vertical brick piers along both sides of the nave. It has a pervasive feeling of solidity, serenity and prayerfulness... The potential of the cathedral called for grand themes in any stained glass window. Contemplating the "Peace Window" (1995) and looking at the nave, the theme of Creation in Genesis Ch. I & 2 presented itself. This Creation theme would provide the whole space with a sense of unity... This design is continuous. It starts at the front right of the sanctuary flowing and unfolding around the cathedral while incorporating the "Peace Window"... The cathedral is a liturgical and prayerful space. The first six windows were deliberately designed and painted to be dark. These windows centre on images from deep Space.

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the earth. Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep and God's Spirit hovered over the waters'.... (Genesis 1/6:8)
