Parish History

Earlville Parish was originally part of St Joseph's Parish Parramatta Park and serviced by the Augustinian Priests. Masses were held on various sites within the parish including underneath private homes etc.

It became a separate Parish with the appointment of Rev Pat Mc Kenna as Parish Priest from 1st January 1965.

Fr Mc Kenna was transferred in Mid January 1983 and was replaced by Rev Fr Miah Mc Sweeny. In 1993, Fr Mc Sweeny was replaced by Rev Fr John Flynn assisted by his brother Fr Hilary Flynn. Fr Hilary Flynn was transferred to Ravenshoe Parish at the end of 2006. Fr John Flynn retired at the end of 2007 and passed away on March 19 2008.

On his appointment Fr Mc Kenna resided in a run down flat on the corner of Mulgrave and Balaclava Roads. In late 1964 the present Presbytery was constructed by Fr Frank Dall'Allba of Gordonvale and Fr Mc Kenna moved in. This presbytery was upgrade and extended by Frank Doolan, assisted by "older" retired parishioners, commonly referred to as "Dad's Army" in 1994. For a time Fr John Flynn and Fr Peter Monaghan resided in a private home next to the Presbytery but Fr John Flynn eventually moved back to the Presbytery.

The church was constructed by D'Arcy Brothers and was blessed by Most Rev J.A. Torpie on July 22, 1973. The structure is built of Clohesy River Brick, with a tiled floor and Colour bond roof. An internal feature of the sanctuary area is the miami-stone walls and the tulip oak centre piece.
